The Tullochan Trust was set up as a charity in 1996 to widen the horizons and nurture the potential of young people in West Dunbartonshire,
which is the third most deprived area in Scotland, with 19 designated areas of multiple deprivation - we work with young people from 10 of these.
We run 8 main projects of self-development courses and activities, which encourage and enable the young people to develop their unique talents, citizenship and leadership qualities:
we help them improve their social, personal, educational and employment skills;
the young people develop confidence, courage and self-esteem and learn to take responsibility, not only for their own futures but that of their communities.
From £1K in 1996 to over £2.5M in 2006.
From 10 young people to over 500 young people annually.
From one member of staff to 23.
Public Recognition for best value and best practise:
2 Scottish Urban Regeneration Awards;
2 Business Excellence Awards from Scottish Enterprise (Dunbartonshire);
Community Project Award (Dunbartonshire);
Investors In People Award.

Testimonial from a Young Person
"I was the one who went entire days in school, too nervous to speak to anyone. Now I am the one with many close friends who can talk in front of a room and not feel terrified.
I was the one who had never been in a boat in her life. Now I am the one who kayaked down a raging river, only capsizing once.
I was the one who was scared of heights. Now I am the one who scaled an 80 foot ladder of logs, climbed a wobbly 20 foot wooden pole and leaped into the unknown.
I was the one who got apprehensive walking home in the dark alone. Now I am the one who groped around in a pitch-black forest, completely blindfolded.
I was the one who had not been away from home for more than one night. Now I am the one who didn't see her family for a full eleven days.
I was the one who'd jump at the chance of a lift home from school. Now I am the one who ate lunch on the highest mountain in the country.in a blizzard.
I was the one who was scared and never thought of having the chance to do all this.
I am the one who loved it.
The Tullochan Trust has started me off on an amazing life-changing journey that has built my confidence, challenged me and pushed me to my every limit. I would like the chance to continue this journey."
