Hop Skip & Jump and Activ8ors
These are community regeneration projects which work with primary school children aged 8-12 years old - they offer a comprehensive range of early intervention activities. We encourage and enable the childrens' development by providing a range of activities which include arts, crafts, sports, healthy eating, drama, enterprise experience, IT and literacy. The success of the projects is evident; the courage, confidence and self esteem which the children gain is dramatic. The schools have noticed a marked improvement in the childrens' attendance, commitment, attention span and overall behaviour.
The Network Youth
This is a community regeneration project. The programme within the Network - a community centre - offers a comprehensive range of activities for young people aged 8-18 years; it develops skills which include IT, Arts and Crafts, drama and sports, outdoor education, community action, specific workshops and cultural visits which help the young people broaden their horizons and improve their personal and employability skills. We organise specific groups for example, a girls' group, and help all the young people think more deeply about topical issues such as sectarianism.
Turn About
This project works with 12-14 year olds to educate them about the negative impact of substance abuse; we provide a wide range of diversionary activities, workshops and one-to-one support for each individual to build their courage, confidence and self-esteem. We work closely with their schools to encourage a commitment to good attendance and future educational attainment.
Passport To Life
A project working with 12-16 year olds which develops a positive attitude and an awareness of the skills necessary to progress towards learning, training and lifelong employment. We help the young people with personal action plans, and take them to visit relevant work places, colleges and universities.
Sports Stars
This project, which works with 11-17 year olds, uses a wide range of sporting activities to develop the skills, teamwork and self esteem of the young people, and to encourage fitness and healthy lifestyle choices.
Way Through The Wilderness
This programme involves 13 year olds annually, on 4 residential Outward Bound Scotland Courses and one to one mentoring within the schools; the schools select the young people whom they think will benefit most. This programme builds the young peoples' courage, confidence and self esteem; it encourages each young person to work towards their personal and social development, and to discover the value of trusting one another, of teamwork and of leadership skills.
The Trust Club
A club for 13-18 year olds, which continues our commitment to our young people and follows on from our other projects; it offers a wide variety of activities and opportunities, for example: sports, drama, Duke of Edinburgh Awards, workshops, summer camps, cultural visits and enterprise experience.
The Leadership Club
This club enables of our 16 years+ to take on new challenges and to gain a range of cultural and leadership experiences; we help the young people with their decisions on their future education and employment, and with their CVs: we enable them to take advantages of opportunities such as Sail Training Adventure Voyages, Outward Bound personal development courses and a 3 month community work and expedition with Raleigh International.
